These days I find my biggest complaint to be the most about the weather. Freezing temperatures create so many extra farm chores – breaking ice off water troughs, extra hay to the animals, etc – all while shivering in my wool socks. And just when I think I would give anything for slightly warmer temperatures, the rains come. The temps did go up, but so much rain came down. The back yard and pastures have rivers running through them. Tree limbs have fallen. And again, no one wants to handle the chores. A quick trip to the barn includes being drenched and possibly losing a boot to the mud.

But with the rain and slightly warmer temperatures comes sprouting grass our sheep will enjoy. And from the cold will pop bulbs and blooms. I probably won’t stop complaining about cold or rain, but I will try and stay positive. Also, I will enjoy sitting in front of the fire with a hot drink and some yarn and hooks, and an excuse to ignore chores for a bit.
